Abstract

Green tea, made from the leaves of Camellia sinensis, is well-known for its health benefits, thanks to its high levels of antioxidants like catechins, especially epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). Unlike black and oolong teas, green tea is less processed, which helps retain these beneficial compounds. Studies have shown that drinking green tea can improve heart health, lower the risk of cancer, boost brain function, and aid in wound healing and infection prevention. This overview explores the history, classification, chemical makeup, and health benefits of green tea, highlighting its potential as a natural remedy for wound care and skin health.
