Abstract

The Santhal Pargana Division in the Indian state of Jharkhand has been witnessing population migration for many years. This phenomenon has both positive and negative impacts on the region's development. The lack of employment opportunities and infrastructure, along with the region's geographical location, are the major reasons behind population migration. While migration helps in the exchange of culture and knowledge, it also results in the outflow of human resources, which has a detrimental effect on the region's economy. It is crucial to understand the reasons behind migration and take steps to address the underlying issues to ensure the sustainable development of the Santhal Pargana region. This paper examines population migration in the Santhal Pargana region from a geographical perspective and highlights the challenges and opportunities associated with it.
