Abstract
In recent decades, research interest has surged in metallo-organic compounds of group 5th metals, namely vanadium, niobium, and tantalum. Extensive synthetic work has explored their chemistry, particularly focusing on vanadium(V) and niobium(V) compounds with novel multidentate chelating ligands. Oxovanadium(V) complexes have garnered attention for their role in biological and catalytic processes, functioning as strong Lewis acid catalyst precursors for a wide range of reactions. These compounds also hold promise in medicinal applications, acting as insulin inhibitors and anticancer agents. Additionally, they find use as molecular precursors for high-quality nano-sized oxide materials, benefiting the ceramic and electronic industries. This review covers diverse aspects of the chemistry of group 5th metals and their derivatives.
